Position Overview

East Moline Correctional Center is seeking an individual who can perform complex work in the areas of payroll and group insurance. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with the ability to work well individually and as a team in a high-functioning, time-sensitive office environment. We invite all qualified candidates to apply.

Essential Functions

  • Performs payroll functions at East Moline Correctional Center.
  • Notifies department supervisors of payroll issues in accordance with department policies, governmental rules, guidelines, and contractual agreements.
  • Acts as the Group Insurance Representative at the facility.
  • Serves as a back-up to other Account Technician I duties in the Business Office.
  • Verifies salary information for loan applications, wage loss statements for insurance companies and completes relevant request documents.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course or requires three (3) years related clerical bookkeeping experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working in a payroll department reviewing and entering payroll information for processing.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in evaluating and calculating pay adjustments.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in answering payroll questions.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience with group insurance.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in reading and applying governmental rules, guidelines, and contractual agreements as related to payroll.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in using the Microsoft Office suite.
