Position Overview
East Moline Correctional Center is seeking as skilled and reliable individual to serve as a Stationary Fireman in the facility’s Maintenance Department. The ideal candidate will have experience in the operation, maintenance, and cleaning of high-pressure boiler systems to ensure continuity of the facility’s steam source. Essential Functions
- Performs boiler operations at the facility.
- Compiles data for daily reports.
- Performs a variety of maintenance duties in the powerhouse.
- Supervises individuals in custody in the performance of maintenance at the facility.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of eight (8) years of elementary school.
- Requires two (2) years of experience in the operation of high-pressure stationary boilers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience reading gauges on high pressure stationary boilers and making appropriate adjustments.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and cleaning of high-pressure stationary boilers.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in blowing down boilers and drums.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience calculating natural gas and water consumption.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience collecting data and compiling usage reports.
- Prefers at least one (1) year experience, both independently and collaboratively, solving complex technical issues.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
