POSITION SUMMARY

Central Management Services Division of Vehicles is looking for a candidate who is highly motivated and professional to serve as an Automotive Parts Warehouser. This position will operate the automotive parts warehouse including ordering, purchasing and receiving purchases. We invite all qualified applicants interested in assisting the Division of Vehicles as we serve the State of Illinois to apply for the position of Automotive Parts Warehouser.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs specialized stores work in the ordering, purchasing, receipt, inventorying, identification, and issuance of automotive vehicular and associated parts items.
  • Receives, stores, issues, and prepares for shipping automotive and vehicular parts.
  • Verifies quantity and condition of automotive items received meet Procurement Services Division master contract specification per contract.
  • Maintains inventory.
  • Prepares, compiles, and composes a variety of documents, include correspondence, memorandums and reports that derive from vendor invoices, work orders and receiving reports.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school OR completion of an approved training program.
  • Requires two years of experience in the keeping of automotive or vehicular stores and records or as an automotive mechanic.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Requires working knowledge of storeroom and warehouse methods, procedures, and inventory record keeping and controls specific to automotive and vehicular parts.
  • Requires working knowledge of procurement, requisitioning, and shipment procedures that are specific to automotive and vehicular parts.
  • Requires ability to identify automotive and vehicular parts visually or from mechanic's oral descriptions.
  • Requires ability to prepare and maintain stock records reports and inventories.
  • Requires ability to evaluate the quality of goods on hand and received.
  • Requires ability to use an automated computer system.
  • Prefers the ability to use software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Prefers the ability to operate a forklift and pallet jacks.  

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel. 
  • This position requires the applicant to pass a background check.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
