Position Overview

 

This position, working with and under the direction of the Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) Mixtures Control Supervisor, is accountable for the design and verification of PCC mixes, production inspection of said mixes, inspection and calibration of all PCC plant equipment used in the production of these mixes, cleaning and calibrating all PCC test equipment used by District 7.

Essential Functions

  • Designs and verifies concrete mixes.
  • Inspects plant equipment and approves said equipment.
  • Cleans and calibrates all district PCC test equipment.
  • Resolves problems which arise concerning quality of concrete.
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of all reports and documents required.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.  Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or job related technical/science curriculum PLUS thirty months of engineering experience OR Six years of engineering experience
     

Preferred Qualifications

•    Experience in transportation materials testing and use of laboratory testing equipment
•    Strong communication skills

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Certification in Portland Cement Concrete Level I
  • Obtain certifications in Mixture Aggregate Technician, Portland Cement Concrete Level II, and Portland Cement Concrete Level III within twelve months of hire date if not already certified
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
  • District-wide travel
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
