Position Overview
This position is accountable for conducting route, bridge inspection, hydraulic, and property surveys.

Essential Functions
- Conducts route, bridge inspection, hydraulic, and property surveys.
- Assists Survey Crew Chief in preparing work schedules and determining the distribution of survey crew personnel among the various survey projects.
- Research property records and compiles data necessary to complete assigned survey projects.
- Accountable for the maintenance and repair or survey instruments and equipment.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS thirty months of engineering experience in the area of land surveying OR Six years of engineering experience in the area of land surveying.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of routine practices of land surveying.
- Knowledge of mathematics, survey computer programs, and survey computations applicable to the work.
- Basic skill in the use of surveying field and office instruments.
- Ability to perform third or higher order survey work and to make technical computations and estimates.
- Basic knowledge of Global Positioning Systems.

- Valid driver’s license.
- Extensive travel within the district and occasional outside the district which could overnight stays.
- Occasional overtime during nights and weekends.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, climb steep terrain, wade in water, and deal with animals, insects, rodents, and snakes; and to perform outdoor work in a variety of conditions including, but not limited to, inclement weather (hot, cold, wet, muddy, windy), active construction sights, and roadways open to traffic.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
