Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire an Office Associate for the Elgin Mental Health Center located in Elgin, Illinois to perform complex and specialized clerical duties as a facility timekeeper/payroll clerk. Acts as a back-up to the Payroll Supervisor in both the payroll/timekeeping role and as Retirement Coordinator. Communicates with Nursing Supervisors, Department Heads and other management staff to ensure timely and accurate submission of payroll/timekeeping data. Answers technical inquiries and from individual staff or management staff concerning pay, explaining agency and facility policies and procedures. Provides instruction regarding department and facility procedures and policies; completes reports or assists in the completion of special projects utilizing Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook programs on a personal computer.
Job Responsibilities

Serves as a facility timekeeper.

Serves as a facility payroll clerk.

Acts as a back-up to and assists the Payroll Supervisor in preparing documents for entering into the computer system.

Inputs payroll information/data into payroll system through use of a personal computer.

Acts as a backup to Retirement Coordinator.

Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.

Requires the ability to keyboard accurately from copy at a minimum net rate of 45 wpm.
