Job Responsibilities

  1. Provides comprehensive medical care and treatment of disorders relating to internal medicine facility- wide.
  2. Makes daily rounds evaluating patients' progress and treatment.
  3. Serves as an intermediary and advocate for patients during community-based consultations, treatment and outpatient care.
  4. Serves as Physician on Call.
  5. Provides consultation in internal medicine to other medical and direct care staff.
  6. Serves as an active member on committees.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires an Illinois license to practice medicine and American Board Certification in Internal Medicine.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Two (2) years of professional experience evaluating and providing quality medical care to adult patients.
  2. Two (2) years of professional experience coordinating medical services with other professional disciplines and supportive personnel.
  3. Two (2) years of professional experience evaluating, diagnosing and treating adult patients in accordance with best practices.
  4. Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  5. Two (2) years of professional experience preparing comprehensive and specialized medical records and reports.
  6. One (1) year of professional experience treating adults with mental illness.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to serve on call, after business hours, weekends, evenings/nights and holidays.
  2. Requires the ability to walk and stand for a significant period of time, including stooping, bending, lifting or exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
  3. Requires the ability to participate in patient management interventions that may include participating in restraint interventions that require the physical hold of a patient.
  4. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  5. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
  6. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
