Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision, performs professional Registered Nursing duties in conformance with established standards, procedures, and policies. in the provision of care and treatment of patients in a direct care setting at Elgin Mental Health Center: completes Nursing assessments, progress notes on patients and appropriate diagnosis, provides proper input to treatment plans: ensures that the clinical services are appropriate for the adult forensic population and the mental and physical development stages of the individual patients.

 

SPECIFICALLY:

 

30%           Performs professional Registered Nursing duties in conformance with established standards. procedures and policies. in the provision of care and treatment of patients in a direct care setting at Elgin Mental Health Center. Performs nursing functions such as distribution of medication, monitoring patients' vital signs and obtaining laboratory specimens; provides emergency treatment.

 

25%       Completes nursing assessments and progress notes on patients and appropriate diagnosis, provides proper input to treatment plans; attends treatment staffings to provide nursing input: documents nursing intervention and patient's response: records physician orders and charts medication; ensures that the clinical services are appropriate for the adult forensic population and the mental and physical development stages of the individual patients.

 

20%       Makes regular rounds of patients: consults with physicians and other professional staff regarding treatment/care.

 

10%       Monitors security of the Unit, medical equipment and supplies: orders supplies.

 

5%         Attends mandatory and continuing in-service training programs: annually updates Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

 

5%         Serves on Nursing/Facility committees; attends unit/program staff and interdisciplinary meetings.

 

5%         Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1.  Requires graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing.

2.  Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.

 

This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.

Employment Conditions

Requires ability to acquire and maintain a CPR certificate.

Work Hours:  3:00 PM - 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM  

Rotating schedule with every other weekend off.
