Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Storekeeper I for the Elgin Mental Health Center located in Elgin, Illinois to operate and maintain the mechanical stores. Receives and completes requisitions, load and unload trucks. Processes and ships commodities both within and outside the center, splitting duties between the mechanical stores and property control. Confers with the grounds crew, physically moving the equipment between the grounds of the facility. Completes inventory control duties including but not limited to disposing excess and or damaged inventory and equipment transfer.
Essential Functions
- Operates and maintains the mechanical stores at Elgin Mental Health Center.
- Receives, unpacks, inspects, and stores food, medical, housekeeping and office/printing merchandise.
- Completes requisition and requests for purchase of stock replacement.
- Rotates stock to ensure the oldest goods are used first.
- Confers with grounds crew, on equipment and property transfer and disposal.
- Loads and unloads trucks.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years high school.
- Requires one (1) year experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently and up to 65 lbs. with assistance.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
