Essential Functions
1. Under general supervision and on a temporary basis not to exceed six months, performs routine maintenance and janitorial duties of site buildings and public use areas:
- Mows grass, cuts weeds and brush
- Rakes lawns, trims, cuts and waters trees and shrubbery, sweeps sidewalks
- Paints signs and picnic tables
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms and buildings/offices
- Sweeps and mops floors
- Washes windows
- Loads and unloads trucks
- Collects and hauls trash
- Picks up and disposes of litter and debris
- Cuts and hauls firewood
2. Assists in area preparation and operation for the various hunting seasons:
- Clears and/or maintains hunting and fishing access points
- Assists in placement of hunt stake location (dove and waterfowl)
- Places information, maps, and sign in sheets for hunting seasons at various sign-in location
- Works various hunter check stations based on season as needed
- Maintains and prepares site for programs
- Assists in planting and care of various cover crops and food plots
- Assists with waterfowl impoundment preparations such as pumping, de-watering, water control structures if required by site.
3. Operates and performs routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles:
- Maintains tools and equipment, including cleaning and repairing hand tools
- Paints and repairs facility and equipment
- Changes oil, fluids, filters, spark plugs, and belts
- Washes vehicles and equipment
- Transports equipment
4. Assists in the inspection of public use areas for public safety and hazards:
- Makes periodic rounds to check for safe site usage, fires or other causes which might endanger or result in loss or damage to property
- Reports findings to supervisor or appropriate authorities
- Makes minor repairs to structures
- Digs post holes and repairs fences
- Clears and maintains trails and pathways
- Assists with maintaining site boundaries
- Installs and maintains site specific signage
5. Explains site rules and regulations to users:
- Assists site visitors
- Directs traffic when needed
6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualification
1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of eight years of elementary school

- Elementary knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment essential to grounds and building maintenance
- Ability to operate and maintain tools, equipment and trucks
- Must be able to carry up to 60 pounds and walk over rough, broken terrain

Office of Land Management
The Office of Land Management (OLM) oversees nearly 400 individual parcels of land and institutes a wide variety of programs and activities advocating outdoor recreation through sustainable use, conservation, and preservation. The Historic Sites Division of the Office of Land Management oversees 57 Historic Sites, Monuments, and Memorials. OLM facilitates activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites, to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
