Position Overview:
The Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice is looking for a candidate to serve as an Administrative Assistant I to work at IYC Harrisburg in the Superintendent's Office. This position serves as an assistant to the Superintendent and provides guidance and direction to staff and youth in custody in resolving problems in areas encountered within the scope of the administrative office. The incumbent coordinates interval reviews and audits relative to directives received from the general office, and serves as liaison with center management regarding the audits in assigned areas. Essential Functions:
- Serves as assistant to Superintendent.
- Provides guidance and direction to staff and youth in custory in resolving problems in areas encountered within the scope of the administrative office.
- Coordinates audit assignments to assess and make recommendations for improvements based on system testing and analysis.
- Local Area Network LAN administrator and mini -computer system coordinator.
- Serves as liaison with center management regarding the audits in assigned area.
- Coordinates interval reviews and audit relative to directives received from general office.
- Develops summaries and reports on completed audits for Superintendent's review to ensure Superintendent is apprised of findings issues and situations that may impact on the center's administration.
- Serves as a Urinalysis Collector for new employees for the facility.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college preferably with courses in public or business administration.
- Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance):
- Prefers knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college preferably with courses in public or private organization.

- Prefers knowledge of department policies and procedures, specifically related to auditing data information for tracking purposes to assist with improvement of policies and procedures.
Conditions of Employment:
- Requires the ability to pass an IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.

IDJJ serves and houses approximately 150 youth and is responsible for approximately 500 youth on Aftercare in various Illinois’ communities.
