Position Overview
Graham Correctional Center is seeking a detail-oriented individual with accounting experience to serve as an Accountant Supervisor in the Business Office. Duties will include verifying accounting records, directing staff engaged in the maintenance of locally held funds and reconciliation of the institution computerized budget package as well as monitoring inventories. Essential Functions
- Serves as a working supervisor.
- Verifies accounting records reflect the current fiscal position of the institution.
- Directs staff engaged in maintenance of locally held funds.
- Guides and directs staff in the maintenance and reconciliation of the institution computerized budget package.
- Controls and monitors Individual in Custody & Employee Commissary Inventory.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion to four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting.
- Requires two (2) years of professional experience in accounting, external auding, budgetary planning and control, or public accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience with accounting and auditing theory, principles, methods, and procedures.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience dealing with laws and regulations relating to state of non-state accounting or auding procedures.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience auditing accounting entries and reports.
- Prefers at least four (4) years of experience utilizing proper composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation, such as gained from a four (4) year college degree or equivalent work experience.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience communicating effectively using both verbal and written skills relaying specific job instructions.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of problem-solving experience within an office setting.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of working experience in an office setting.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience using Microsoft Office suite or similar programs.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
