Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire an Information Systems Analyst I for the Madden Mental Health Center located in Hines, Illinois to serve as the computer and data processing specialist for both hardware and software.  Provides hospital staff with highly technical and professional assistance in the development, analysis, interpretation, evaluation, modification, installation and maintenance of the Madden Mental Health Center’s information system. Directs computer-based data transfer and interfacing between the hospital, Division of Mental Health and DoIT. Designs, develops material and conducts training of computers and related programs.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as the computer and data processing specialist for both hardware and software for Madden Mental Health Center.
  • Directs computer-based data transfer and interfacing between the hospital, Division of Mental Health and DoIT.
  • Provides hospital staff with highly technical and professional assistance in the development, analysis, interpretation, evaluation, modification, installation and maintenance of the Madden Mental Health Center’s information system.
  • Evaluates maintenance needs of highly complex computer equipment and performs technical repair, restoration or replacement of equipment.
  • Assists higher-level computer staff in the implementation and overall maintenance of the database tracking system used to track the continuity of care for patients as they move between the hospital and community provider agencies.
  • In the absence of the supervisor, serves as the liaison between DoIT and community providers regarding all support software, host computer connections, data transfers and other related day-to-day business.
  • Attends and actively participates in all mandatory training.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields and requires one (1) year of professional experience in a related Information Technology field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of professional experience providing advanced technical support for a public or private organization with both internal and external stakeholders using Information Technology concepts and principles and the principles and techniques of Information Technology documentation.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience using procedures to provide assigned technical and logical analytical ability in defining, evaluating and solving difficult administrative, organizational, technical or operational problems where solutions may be of a precedent-establishing or research nature.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience planning and recommending training requirements that are necessary for effective performance using Microsoft products.
  • One (1) year of professional experience using hardware and software, programming languages and procedures to provide assigned technical and analytical services.
  • One (1) year of professional experience attending outside resource instruction and industry seminars summarizing and providing relevant information to component staff.
  • One (1) year of professional experience using methods, procedures and techniques of conducting feasibility studies for system conversions and enhancements of platform infrastructure and application systems.
