Position Overview

Under general supervision of the Treatment Unit Administrator (Public Service Administrator), performs specialized, sex individuals in custody specific group and individual therapy utilizing a variety of techniques.  Develops behavior modification programs specific to each participant.  Maintains required standards of clinical documentation that is specific and congruent to sex individuals in custody population.  Conducts risk assessments and testing of sex individuals in custody.  Provides court testimony.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Provides specialized, sex individuals in custody specific group and individual therapy utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques
  2. Develops behavior modification programs specific to each participant which are designed to decelerate identified maladaptive behaviors and facilitate increased appropriate behaviors
  3. Maintains required standards of clinical documentation that is specific and congruent to the sex individuals in custody population
  4. Conducts risk assessments and testing of sex individuals in custody utilizing clinical evaluation procedures
  5. Provides court testimony on treatment and evaluation. Travels to perform these duties.
  6. Performs other duties as requires or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires possession of a master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage, and family therapy or a closely related behavioral science degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. Requires eligibility to be approved to conduct sex individuals in custody treatment and evaluations by the Illinois Sex Offender Management Board

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Requires extensive knowledge of the theories and assumptions underlying the field of sex individuals in custody treatment and evaluation
  2. Requires extensive knowledge of assessment instruments and measurement techniques
  3. Requires working knowledge of techniques and methods used in sex individuals in custody diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy and research
  4. Requires working knowledge of department rules and regulations governing the field of sex individuals in custody evaluation and treatment
  5. Requires working knowledge of the application of theory to social and emotional deviation
  6. Requires ability to plan and design individual treatment programs for assigned recipients.
  7. Requires ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff members, department recipients and their families
  8. Requires ability to design individual treatment plans and implement them correctly
  9. Requires ability to identify reliable individualized measure of client needs and progress
  10. Requires ability to assess effectiveness of treatment plans and make needed corrections
