Position Overview

Under general direction, performs difficult and specialized professional Information Technology work for the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI), Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS). Organizes, plans, executes, controls and evaluates the application systems program.

Job Responsibilities

20%   1. Performs difficult and specialized professional Information Technology work for the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI), Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS).

 

20%   2. Administers and monitors state and federal databases and programs.

 

15%   3. Provides technical training and analytic support to ISVI staff.

 

10%   4. Assists in the formulation and development of school handbooks in cooperation with other school staff.

 

10%   5. Coordinates and conducts student registration.

 

10%   6. Assembles information from database programs.

 

 5%   7. Provides technical assistance.

 

 5%   8. Confers with the Superintendent and ISVI administration.

 

 5%   9. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields
  1. Requires one year of professional experience in a related Information Technology field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Extensive knowledge of Information Technology concepts and principles, theories and functions of computer systems, hardware, software, language and procedures. 
  2. Ability to analyze data logically.
  3. Ability to exercise sound judgement in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature.
  4. Experience with Syward applications.
