Position Overview
Under direct supervision, performs routine service tasks in the kitchen, dining room or other dietary area. Assists in preparing foods for cooking, dishwashing and mealtime functions. Maintains orderliness of kitchen and dining areas. Assists in maintaining the physical inventory.
Job Responsibilities
1. Performs routine service tasks in the kitchen, dining room or other dietary area. Assists in preparing foods for cooking and dishwashing; performing such tasks as scraping, loading and unloading dishwashers and washing glasses; places clean dishes in proper area. Assists in cleaning kitchen equipment such as choppers, grinders, mixers and refrigerators; maintains orderliness of kitchen and dining areas.
2. Assists in mealtime functions, i.e., serving prepared meals in serving ling or on individual plates; assures proper portion control, cuts cakes and pies, fills salad bar; changes drink dispensers; cleans tables, chairs and empties trash.
3. Assists in kitchen preparing vegetables other foodstuffs for cooking, i.e., peels vegetables, cleans poultry, portions out fruits and desserts.
4. Assists in maintaining the physical inventory of coolers, freezers and dry goods.
5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Requirements
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six months experience in routine tasks commonly found in dietary units
Conditions of Employment
- Per P.A. 098-0566 Requires ability to complete a food handling training course and obtain a Food Handler’s certificate within 30 days of employment.

Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/heath-related policies and guidance.

Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.

Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreation use under Illinois Law.
Work Hours: Mon - Fri, 6:00am - 2:00pm & 11:00am -7:00pm; Shifts alternate every week
