Position Overview
Under general supervision, performs a variety of difficult or sensitive clerical work for the Quality Assurance Unit. Utilizes the Law Enforcement Agency Data System (LEADS) and other software applications, i.e., Microsoft Word, Lotus Approach. The Automated Law Enforcement Communication System (ALECS) or email, provides missing background check responses ,to non-criminal justice agencies. Utilizing LEADS, audits criminal justice submission returned from the keying vendor for completeness and accuracy. Utilizing LEADS, provides fatal errors to both criminal justice and non-criminal justice agencies. Receives, corrects, controls and maintains a database for the Illinois Department of Corrections Offender Tracking System, specifically for inmates with new correctional numbers.
Job Responsibilities
1. 30% Utilizes the law Enforcement Agency Data System (LEADS) and other software applications, i.e., Microsoft Word, Lotus Approach, and the Automated Law Enforcement Communication System (ALECS) or Lotus Notes email. Provides missing background check responses to non-criminal justice agencies. These include both State and FBI responses. Provides information for monthly statistical report.
2. 30% Utilizing LEADS, audits criminal justice submission returned from the keying vendor for completeness and accuracy. These submissions include arrest fingerprint cards, state attorney's filing decisions, court dispositions and custodial status changes. Provides information gained from the audit in monthly statistical reports to the Quality Assurance manager.
3. 25% Utilizing LEADS, provides fatal errors to both criminal justice and non-criminal justice agencies. Notification is made by fax, mail or phone. Performs routine and complex query functions related to criminal history record information (CHRI) by utilizing a variety of LEADS screen formats. These include data entering corrections to criminal history records, providing SID numbers to criminal justice agencies and assisting customers with service related questions and concerns.
4. 10% Receives, corrects, controls and maintains a database for the Illinois Department of Corrections Offender Tracking System, specifically for inmates with new correctional numbers. Completes monthly statistical report for the Illinois Department of Corrections.
5. 5% Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school, and one (1) year of related office experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires the ability to type accurately at 35 wpm.
- Requires the ability to learn and use Microsoft Word, Lotus Notes, and Lotus Approach software applications.
