Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an Account Technician I for the Shapiro Center located in Kankakee, Illinois to serve as a payroll/timekeeping technician. Enters staff work time into the payroll system. Processes timekeeping and payroll related functions. Maintains employee payroll records. Prepares and maintains reports and files associated with employee payroll records. Reconciles bi-monthly net change warrant reports. Complies with department, Center and Central Management Services (CMS) policies and procedures in the operation and completion of timekeeping duties.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as a payroll/timekeeping technician for assigned staff at Shapiro Center.
- Reviews for accuracy and enters staff work time into the payroll/timekeeping system.
- Prepares and maintains files associated with wage garnishments, employee payroll verifications, back wage claims and employee payroll deductions.
- Enters changes to employee benefit deductions in the payroll/timekeeping system.
- Enters staff rotation schedules into the timekeeping system.
- Prepares and maintains reports and files associated with employee payroll records.
- Distributes monthly time balance sheets to employees.
- Maintains databases at the Center pertaining to timekeeping reports/documents.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course or three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
Qualifying state employees, in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this class.

- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
