Position Overview

Under direct supervision, performs routine, repetitive unskilled manual tasks associated with support services at Shapiro Center. Performs support service functions in dietary, laundry, housekeeping, exterior building/campus clean-up and/or clothing service. Participates in meal preparation, care of clothing or cleaning; uses standard equipment and machinery. Completes dietary, clothing and housekeeping services according to Accreditation Council on Services or People with Developmental Disabilities (ACDD), Healthcare Financing Administration (HCFA) and Public Health requirements; performs simple clerical record keeping tasks pertaining to activities performed.

Job Responsibilities

1. Performs routine, repetitive unskilled manual tasks associated with support services at Shapiro Center.


2. Exercises safety precautions in the use and handling of supplies, tools and equipment.


3. Performs simple clerical record keeping tasks pertaining to activities performed.


4. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned. 

Employment Conditions

  1. Per P.A. 098-0566 – Requires ability to complete an ANSI Accredited food handling training course within 30 days of employment.
  2. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance. 
  3. Requires ability to pass the Illinois Department of Human Services background check. 
  4. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law. 

Work Hours:  6:30am - 3:00pm; Rotating Days Off
