Position Overview
Kewanee Correctional Center is looking for an energetic candidate to serve as an Account Technician I in the facility Business Office. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, task oriented, and has excellent organizational skills. This position will maintain facility employee's time and attendance records and prepare the Payroll Time Report. In addition, they will maintain a filing system, compile totals of benefit time for variousreports, and serve as Property Control Clerk for the facility. Essential Functions
- Maintain facility employee's time and attendance records.
- Prepares Payroll Time Report.
- Maintains a complete and accurate filing system.
- Compiles totals of each category of benefit time for various reports.
- Serves as Property Control Clerk for Kewanee LSRC.
- Serves as back up to trust fund officer.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course OR three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
- Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in recording and processing timekeeping.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in answering questions related to benefit time and usage.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in maintaining a filing system.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in using excel spreadsheets (or similar software).
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in compiling reports from excel spreadsheets (or similar software).
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in auditing timekeeping documents such as sign in sheets, time off notifications, and resolving discrepancies.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in working in an office setting.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in the use of common office equipment such as computers, multi-line phone system, copier, fax, and scanner.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in reading contractual agreements, rules, and guidelines and applying the information to the work being performed.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
