Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking to hire a Site Technician II for the Office of Land Management at Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Recreation Area. This position will repair gear mechanics, minor hydraulic work, and minor bodywork on site vehicles, make minor repairs to plumbing/heating/air condition equipment, operates heavy equipment, sell hunting licenses and camping permits, and operates site water and/or wastewater facilities. Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Recreation Area is 6 miles south of the Illinois-Wisconsin state line and contains 40-acre lake. Essential Functions
- Performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance, operational program support assignments, and restoration and improvements for Lake-Le-Aqua-Na State Park
- Assists in site construction and other projects
- Assists in implementing the safety and security programs at the site
- Performs routine tasks related to the outdoor recreational programs
- Maintains and applies pesticides and herbicides to the grounds throughout the site
- Maintains building interiors
- Maintains maintenance on exterior areas of the site
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associate with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or operation of heavy equipment of farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing
- Two years of experience in following written and oral instructions
- One (1) years of experience of informing visitors of site facilities, programs, rules and regulations
- One (1) years of experience in outdoor recreation
- One (1) years of experience in groundskeeping
Employment Conditions
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
- Requires appropriate, valid Driver's license
- Ability to obtain pesticide operator's license within 6 months of employment
- Ability to withstand exposure to the elements on a year-round basis
- Ability to physically operate and maintain tools, equipment and materials utilized in the maintenance, repair and site resources, building and grounds
- Ability to lift, carry and transport loads exceeding sixty pounds
- Ability to walk over rough and broken terrain
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR Certification

OLM facilitates activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites, to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
