Position Overview:
Do you possess a fiscal background with strong attention to detail? The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking an individual to serve as the Account Technician I under general supervision of the Business Administrator at the Illinois Youth Center in Lincoln. The incumbent in this role will prepare all facility time and attendance records, calculate and record time usage and provide information and assistance to employees. The incumbent will identify discrepancies and research information to resolve. The incumbent will serve as liaison for the Timekeeping department and verify that filing systems are maintained. The incumbent will verify the accuracy of prepared reports by reviewing them prior to submission to payroll. IDJJ encourages all interested and qualified individuals to apply.
Essential Functions:
- Receives, reviews, and maintains all facility time and attendance records.
- Prepares and audits complex financial documents for the facility.
- Prepares Payroll Time Report.
- Monitors the daily functions and activities of the timekeeping department.
- Monitors, reviews, and assists with assembling data for monthly sick time usage summary report.
- Assists other Business Office staff in the performance of duties and serves as back up to other Account Technician I’s.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course or three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
- Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance):
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience processing timekeeping in a congregate care, correctional, or similar environment with varying shifts.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience reconciling timekeeping reports and researching errors.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience performing data entry.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience meeting deadlines in a time sensitive environment.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience serving as a liaison or point of contact in a professional setting.
Conditions of Employment:
- Requires the ability to pass an IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
