Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a highly motivated Account Technician I. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, task orientated, and an organized individual with attention to detail. Job Responsibilities
1. Serves as facility’s Vouchering Clerk.
2. Serves as back-up to the facility’s Purchasing Account Technician I.
3. Serves as the facility’s Inventory Clerk.
4. Serves as back-up to the facility’s Timekeeping Account Technician I.
5. Serves as back-up to the facility’s Trust Fund Account Technician I.
6. Contacts vendors daily to request or discuss billings.
7. Maintains Summary Reports showing deletions, cancelations and adjustments of changes made after original input of invoice as Invoice Journal Report has such items in monthly totals.
8. Assists in the input of surveys and requisitions on BidBuy and OFD’s.
9. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the numerated duties above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years college and completion of an approved training course or requires three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this class.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Prefers at least one (1) year work experience with state or non-state accounting procedures.
2. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience preparing data entry forms for vouchers.
3. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience creating and manipulating spreadsheets for reporting purposes.
4. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience compiling information from various documentation sources.
5. Prefers at least one (1) year experience processing vouchers for payment.
6. Prefers at least one (1) year experience reviewing and resolving vouchering issues.
7. Prefers at least one (1) year experience maintaining a complex filing system.
8. Prefers at least one (1) year experience working within computer applications regarding vouchering.
9. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working in an office setting.
Conditions of Employment
1. Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
2. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
