Essential Functions

  1. Acts as secretary to nursing administration, coordinates all clerical activities relating to the nursing office
  2. Maintains complex computerized work schedules for all nursing personnel
  3. Accurately keyboards correspondence, reports, and complex documents containing medical terminology
  4. Organizes and maintains filing systems and maintains confidential information concerning various unions, various correspondence, and medical information protected by HIPAA
  5. Provides guidance, training, and direction to lower-level clerical staff fulfilling clerical office support functions
  6. As directed, performs timekeeping functions in the absence of unit timekeepers
  7. Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two years of office experience
  2. Requires the ability to accurately keyboard at a rate of 45 words per minute

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

  1. Prefers extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  2. Prefers working knowledge of basic mathematics
  3. Prefers elementary knowledge of agency programs, rules, and regulations
  4. Prefers the ability to follow oral or written instructions
  5. Prefers the ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment and performs routine maintenance
