 Position Overview

The Registered Nurse I is responsible for providing exceptional care and assistance to our veterans. Job Responsbilities

  1. In conformance with established standards, procedures and policy, provides a full-range of professional nursing services in the care and treatment of residents, such as administering medications, monitoring vital signs, examining residents and using nursing assessment skills and monitoring physical conditions and reactions to various treatments and adheres to State and Federal regulatory guidelines utilizing professional training and experience in the field of nursing. 
  2. Prepares and maintains medical records and histories such as recording physician’s orders, charting medications, recording resident conditions and behaviors
  3. Provides guidance, instruction and explanation of patient care and treatment and the use of equipment to non-professional nursing staff
  4. Makes regular rounds of residents in relation to nursing duties and physician rounds
  5. Sets up, operates, and monitors special equipment, such as aspiration equipment and suction equipment
  6. Orders and maintains medications and other medical equipment and supplies
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing or a bachelor’s degree in nursing
  2. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
  3. This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title  

Conditions of Employment

  1. Must pass a background check
  2. Must pass a drug screen
  3. Must complete a pre-employment physical
  4. Must meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance
  5. Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime
