Job Responsibilities

Processes a variety of general, industrial mechanical or office supply items

  • Maintains inventory and other records of stock received and issued
  • Receives, records, stores and distributes stock or equipment to authorized staff
  • Maintains reports for all items received in the storeroom, ensuring that inventory corresponds with receiving reports
  • Organizes and maintains the inventory of commodities and supplies
  • Estimates stock needs and assists with preparation of orders for stock replacement
  • Maintains records incidental to perpetual inventories
  • Initiates emergency purchases of minor items as authorized

Assembles, packs, transports, or arranges for transporting of requisitioned goods or materials to facility staff

  • Issues, delivers and/or retrieves supplies to/from designated areas according to an approved requisition
  • Operates materials handling equipment such as: forklifts, hand trucks, dollies, scales, etc.
  • Acquires required signatures on approved requisition forms

Estimates stocks needs and prepares requisitions for stock replacement as required

  • Maintains records of all received items
  • Participates in the inventory process of commodities and supplies on intermittent and annual basis

Oversees General Store operations in the absence of the Storekeeper III

  • Initiates emergency purchases of minor items as authorized

Maintains a clean and efficient environment within the General Stores area

  • Develops efficient store methods in allocation of proper bins or storage place assignment
  • Assist in the maintenance of the facility store/stock system to ensure an efficient operation

Inspect received shipments for damage and accurate items and quantity

  • Makes necessary transportation arrangements for return shipments
  • Prepares shipping documents

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires working knowledge of storeroom and warehouse methods, procedures, inventory record keeping and controls.
  • Requires working knowledge of transportation agencies, shipment methods, and purchase and requisition procedures.

  • Requires ability to supervise and instruct others in stock handling duties.
  • Requires ability to prepare stock records and reports.
  • Requires ability to determine quality of goods against prescribed specifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires ability to perform arduous labor.

Employment Conditions

  • May require possession of a valid and appropriate driver's license, to include a CDL license for some positions

Education Degree

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years high school.
  • Requires one-year experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.
