Position Overview

Are Sales, Marketing and Public Relations your passion? The Illinois Lottery is seeking to hire a Lottery Sales Coordinator with the Sales Division.  The individual in this position will oversee a staff of Sales Representative in a specified region, providing in-person customer service, guidance, and direction to Lottery retailers to ensure they receive the full benefits of selling Lottery tickets.  If you are a people person who excels in communicating and solving problems, the Illinois Lottery encourages you to apply for this position.

 

Essential Functions

1.  Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews the activities of a staff of Lottery Sales Representatives engaged in promoting Lottery activities in an assigned geographical region.

 

2.  Provides assistance and advisory services to sales retailers.

 

3.  Monitors and analyzes sales records.

 

4.  Serves as working supervisor.

 

5.  Drives an automobile to visit business organizations and meets with sales staff.

 

6.  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of duties enumerated above.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

1.  Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with courses in Marketing, Public Relations or Business Administration.

 

2.  Requires three (3) years progressively responsible professional experience in marketing, sales, or a promotional field.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

1.  Prefers extensive knowledge of sales and marketing principles, practices, and techniques.

 

2.  Prefers extensive knowledge of methods and techniques of disseminating information in a clear, concise, and effective manner.

 

3.  Prefers working knowledge of the State Lottery law, rules, regulations, agency policies, and procedures.

 

4.  Prefers ability to coordinate and administer the activities of a staff engaged in a Lottery promotional and sales program in an assigned geographical area.

 

5.  Prefers ability to exercise sound discretion and sound judgment in making important work decisions.

 

6.  Prefers ability to communicate effectively with the public, business organizations, bank officials and others, either orally or in writing.

 

7.  Prefers skill and resourcefulness to successfully direct and monitor lottery promotional and sales programs and to evaluate their effectiveness.

 

8.  Prefers ability to independently undertake ongoing or special assignments and to prepare authoritative and valid reports from which to draw logical conclusions.

 

9.  Prefers ability to meet people easily and establish and maintain good working relationships with the public and agency personnel and use diplomacy and tact in dealing with controversial matters.

 

 

Conditions of Employment

1.  Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.

 

2.  Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties.

 

3.  Requires possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license and automobile insurance.

 

4.  Requires the ability to utilize agency issued equipment, (i.e. cell phone, tablet, car, etc.)

 

5.  Must live within 25 miles of Region 6.
