Position Overview

Are Sales, Marketing and Public Relations your passion? The Illinois Lottery is seeking to hire a Lottery Sales Representative with the Sales Division. The individual in this position will work independently in a specified route, providing in-person customer service, guidance and direction to Lottery retailers to ensure they receive the full benefits of selling Lottery tickets. Job Responsibilities

  1. Distributes Lottery promotional materials to Lottery retailers in Territory 207, which encompasses Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Lake Zurich, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, and Schaumburg areas.
  2. Evaluates performance of licensed retailers to ascertain compliance with Department policies and procedures.
  3. Reports all sales activities and plans to supervisor and Private Manager.
  4. Provides assistance to retailers regarding installation and upkeep of Lottery equipment and products.
  5. Attends staff meetings to keep apprised of new developments and new sales promotions.
  6. Assists in calling on potential new retailers in their territory that have been identified by Lottery management.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  1. Requires two (2) years progressively responsible experience in marketing, sales or a promotional field.
  2. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college with courses in marketing, public relations or business administration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  1. Prefers extensive experience using sales and marketing principles, practices, and techniques.
  2. Prefers extensive experience in graphically presenting promotional and sales programs and evaluating their resourcefulness.
  3. Prefers the ability to manage various projects and tasks simultaneously.
  4. Prefers the ability to utilize sales software basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  5. Prefers the ability to promote sales and use diplomacy and tact in dealing with controversial matters.
  6. Prefers the ability to plan regularly scheduled visits to retailers in sales territory.
  7. Prefers the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, retailers, and customers of various backgrounds either orally or in writing.

 

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to pass a criminal background check.
  2. Requires the ability and willingness to travel frequently and for extended periods of time.
  3. Requires possession of an appropriate valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
  4. Requires the ability to utilize agency issued equipment, (i.e. cellphone and tablet).
  5. Must live within 25 miles of the areas of Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Lake Zurich, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, and Schaumburg.
