Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking to hire Site Technician II's at Fort Massac State Park. This position will complete daily and monthly reports, operate trucks and tractors, bushhogs, riding mowers, chainsaws, hand tools, and weed eaters, build forms for concrete, clean and sanitize restrooms, repair and perform preventative maintenance to plumbing, hvac, air conditioning, and electrical systems, sell camping permits and collect fees, direct traffic and make daily traffic counts. The Fort Massac State Park is a historic site along the Ohio River in Illinois. The park offers camping, hiking, boating, fishing, disc golf, and living history programs. Essential Functions
- Under direct supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled and routine tasks in the operation, maintenance, and improvement of grounds and facilities at Fort Massac State Park and its satellites.
- Participates in grounds and facilities maintenance.
- Performs routine maintenance on site equipment, vehicles, and tools.
- Performs routine tasks related to historical and recreational outdoor programs.
- Assists in assuring the safety and security of the site and visiting public.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associated with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or operation of heavy equipment or farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing.
- Two (2) years of experience in the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- One (1) year of experience in the ability to inform visitors of site facilities, programs, rules, and regulations.
- One (1) year of experience in outdoor recreation.
- One (1) year of experience in groundskeeping.

2. Valid driver’s license.
3. Ability to obtain pesticide operator’s license within 6 months of employment.
4. Requires ability to withstand exposure to the elements on a year-round basis.
5. Requires physical ability to operate and maintain tools, equipment, and materials utilized in the maintenance, repair, and care of site resources, buildings, and grounds.
6. Requires ability to lift, carry, and transport loads exceeding sixty pounds.
7. Requires ability to walk over rough and broken terrain.
8. Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.

The Historic Sites Division of the Office of Land Management oversees 57 Historic Sites, Monuments, and Memorials. OLM facilitates activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites, to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
Work Hours: 2 Schedules:
#1: Thursday-Monday with Tuesday & Wednesday off; 7:30am to 3:30 pm w/ 1/2 hr lunch
#2: Friday to Tuesday with Wednesday & Thursday off; 7:30am to 3:30 pm w/ 1/2 hr lunch
