Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Office Coordinator, Opt. 2 for the Office of Land Management at I&M Canal/Gebhard Woods State Park. This position will provide specialized office support functions for I&M Canal and its satellites. The ideal candidate will have experience as a timekeeper and have the ability to balance accounts, utilize organizational skills and use the computer to prepare a variety of documents, databases and spreadsheets.  The I&M Canal State Trail stretches 61.5 miles across the Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Area from Rockdale all the way down to LaSalle. Rich in history and scenic views, this trail runs along a variety of fascinating locations, including numerous state parks and restored historical sites that offer opportunities to enjoy an abundance of wildlife and distinct landscapes.   We welcome interested applicants who would like to be part of this team to apply today.

Essential Functions

  • Under direction, performs paraprofessional secretarial and office support functions in support of the I&M Canal and its satellites.
  • Reviews and examines financial documents and takes corrective action.
  • Performs receptionist duties.
  • Serves as timekeeper for all assigned staff.
  • Maintains petty cash fund and completes monthly reconciliation.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two years of related office experience or two years of independent business experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of extensive knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • One (1) year of working knowledge of the logic of computer programs.
  • One (1) year of experience having the ability to follow oral or written instructions.
  • One (1) year of extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
