Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a detail-oriented person to serve as the Human Resources Associate at the Western Illinois Correctional Center. This individual will work with employee’s evaluations, insurance, and personnel transactions. We are seeking a candidate that would be self-motivated, task-oriented, organized individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Essential Functions
- Prepares and submits personnel transactions and documents for supervisor approval.
- Maintains group insurance for facility.
- Monitors performance evaluations and sends out monthly reminders.
- Serves as Personnel Office receptionist.
- Verifies employment in accordance with personnel rules.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
- Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience maintaining personnel files, confidential files, and/or medical information files.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working in a confidential setting.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience maintaining a tracking system for sending out notices for performance evaluations, leaves of absence, and/or position descriptions.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience assisting with the development of various activities such as job fairs and orientation sessions for new employees.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience effectively managing multiple priorities on a daily basis.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in preparing personnel transactions for processing.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and/or similar type of computer programs.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience assisting employees with routine inquiries regarding employee benefits such as health or workers compensation insurance benefits.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience gathering information for the preparation of reports.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of processing vacancy bids and/or bid records.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
