This position is for a Personal Services Contract, not a full-time employee position. An individual signing a Personal Services Contract is not covered by the provisions of the Personnel Code 20 ILCS 415 et seq. This individual agrees to be bound by and comply with the policies and procedures of the Agency. They are not entitled to any employment benefits such as paid sick, vacation, holiday, and personal leaves, retirement contributions, health insurance, or life insurance or access to Personnel Code or Civil Service grievance procedures. They are covered by Worker's Compensation and Unemployment Insurance.

Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced registered nurse to review, analyze, provide responses to grievances submitted by Individuals in Custody related to healthcare and to obtain and facilitate timely and thorough responses to healthcare grievances (including but not limited to mental health, medical, dental, medical records) from healthcare staff at the facility level. The selected candidate will assist with the backlog of healthcare grievances at the facility level and prevent the facility healthcare staff from getting further behind. The expected duration of this Personal Services Contract is 6 months. We invite all qualified candidates to apply.
Essential Functions
- Review, analyze, provide responses to grievances submitted by Individuals in Custody related to healthcare and to obtain and facilitate timely and thorough responses to healthcare grievances from other healthcare staff.
- Travel to facilities within assigned region to review, analyze, provide responses to grievances and to obtain and facilitate timely and thorough responses to healthcare grievances from other healthcare staff.
- To assist with the backlog of responses for healthcare grievances to ensure timely responses.
- Review medical records for Individuals in Custody and discuss medical/mental health/dental healthcare provided to Individuals in Custody.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and development equivalent to four (4) years of college.
- Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible Registered Nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least one (1) year of working experience in a correctional setting.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
- Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
