Position Overview
This position serves as a Nursing Supervisor to staff in all phases of the Health Care delivery unit, laboratory, radiology and nursing programs at the Menard Correctional Center. The incumbent will work as a full-line supervisor to staff, assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance and training to assigned staff, scheduling staff to meet day-to-day operating needs, establish annual goals and objectives. The incumbent will work with state and contractual staff and monitor the quality of care given to our patients. The Nursing Supervisor will assist with the monthly reports, have open communication with the Office of Health Services, assist with CQI data collection and studies, as well as audit completion.
Menard Correctional Center was established on the banks of the Mississippi River in 1878. The maximum security facility changes in elevation over 200 feet and includes more than 2,600 acres with 41 acres enclosed by perimeter. The facility is comprised of 155 buildings totaling 1,294,000 square feet. Menard is the state's largest maximum-security adult male facility. The center consists of five housing units, a receiving and orientation unit, segregation unit and a health care unit. Also included is the Menard medium-security unit.

Job Responsibilities
1. Directs, coordinates and provides guidelines to staff in all phases of the Health Care delivery unit, laboratory, radiology and nursing programs.
2. Serves al full line supervisor.
3. Provides direction, assistance on nursing treatments and procedures.
4. Schedules special clinics and reviews lines for proper care and follow-up.
5. Monitors all specialty referrals approved by Medical Director both to outside medical specialists and to on-site specialty clinics.
6. Assist the Healthcare Unit Administrator (HCUA) with collection of appropriate data and submit in the form of a Monthly Report to the Warden's Office.
7. Performs other duties as enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
2. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
3. Prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible Registered Nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)
1. At least one (1} year of experience supervising professional staff.
2. At least one (1} year working experience in a correctional setting.
3. At least one (1} year professional experience delivering in-service training.
4. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS} training and certification.
5. At least one (1} year professional experience interpreting and monitoring healthcare contracts.
6. At least one (1} year experience making nursing schedules for a twenty-four/seven (24/7) healthcare facility.
7. At least one (1) year professional experience with problem solving patient complaints.
8. At least one (1) year professional experience maintaining a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program along with recommending and implementing improvements.
9. At least one (1} year professional experience with data collection and preparing reports.
10. At least one (1) year experience auditing healthcare records for accuracy and ensuring compliance with medical policies procedures.
11. Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher.
Conditions of Employment
1. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
2. Ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
3. Ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois.
