POSITION SUMMARY

Central Management Services (CMS) Division of Vehicles is looking for a candidate who is highly motivated and professional to serve as an Automotive Parts Warehouser. This position specializes in store work in the ordering, purchasing, receipt, inventorying, identification, and issuance of automotive vehicular and associated parts items. The candidate will maintain clerical records of stock received and issued, and inventory controls. The State of Illinois offers an excellent benefits package that includes a defined pension plan, Health Insurance (medical, dental, vision, for self and family), Deferred Compensation Plan, 13 paid holidays, prorated based on start date. Accrued Monthly Vacation earning schedule, annually accrue 12 paid sick days, 3 paid personal days, (10) Weeks paid Maternity/Paternity Leave. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Under direction, operates the automotive garage parts issue rooms or storerooms, and/or warehouse at the Paris Garage.
  • Purchases, receives, stores, issues, and prepares for shipping automotive and vehicular parts.
  • Verifies quantity and condition of automotive items received meet Procurement Services Division master contract specifications per contract.
  • Maintains inventory.
  • Prepares, compiles, and composes a variety of documents, including correspondence, memorandums and reports that derive from vendor invoices, work orders and receiving reports.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of high school or completion of an approved training program.
  • Requires two (2) years’ experience in the keeping of automotive or vehicular stores and records or as an automotive mechanic.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefers two (2) years of professional experience working with storeroom and warehouse methods, procedures, and inventory record keeping and controls specific to automotive and vehicular parts.
  • Prefers two (2) years of professional experience with procurement, requisitioning, and shipment procedures that are specific to automotive and vehicular parts.
  • Prefers two (2) years of professional experience identifying automotive and vehicular parts visually or from mechanic’s oral descriptions.
  • Prefers two (2) years of professional experience preparing and maintaining stock records, reports, and inventories. 
  • Prefers two (2) years of professional experience using automated computer systems and applications such as fleet management, Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Outlook, or comparable systems.
  • Prefers two (2) years of professional experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel locally in the performance of duties.
  • This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
