Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an energetic and detail-oriented licensed Registered Nurse to review program needs, setting priorities and assigning nursing staff to ensure compliance with standards of care and practice, facility and departmental policies and compliance with applicable standards including the American Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities (ACCD), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the Ludeman Developmental Center located in Park Forest, Illinois. The Ludeman Developmental Center strives to provide equitable access to social/human services, supports, programs and resources to enhance the lives of all who we serve.
Essential Functions
- Serves as a Nursing Educator for the Ludeman Developmental Center.
- Serves as full-line supervisor.
- Coordinates new nurses and contracted nursing staff training/orientation for continuing health information, protocols, policies, procedures for nurses as appropriate.
- Reviews health records, conducts audits and develops in-services/training related to deficiencies in documentation and care of the individual.
- Analyzes and evaluates health care policies and procedures to improve the quality of care.
- Participates in facility nursing meetings as scheduled.
- Serves as Nursing Supervisor on Call.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of those duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in nursing.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of professional experience supervising professional nursing staff.
- Three (3) years of professional experience recommending and implementing nursing policies and procedures relative to latest trends and nursing standards.
- Two (2) years of professional experience reviewing program needs, setting priorities and assigning nursing staff to ensure compliance with standards of care and practice for a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of professional experience training nursing staff on nursing care practices and techniques.
- Two (2) years of professional nursing experience communicating in verbal or written form with patients and/or individuals.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
- Requires ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotations basis as Nursing Supervisor on Duty.
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including computers.
- Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
