Position Overview

The Department of Military Affairs is looking to hire a Military Property Custodian II located in Peoria, IL.  This position is under direct supervision of the Military Facilities Officer, operated by the ILANG Civil Engineering warehouse for the Department of Military Affairs at the 182nd Civil Engineering Squadron.  Processes a variety of general, industrial, mechanical or office supply items of considerable value.  Stores stock and equipment; prepares items for shipping; maintains inventory and other records of stock received and issued.

Essential Functions

  • Computes and establishes stock levels for supplies and goods for the ILANG 182d Civil Engineer Squadron. 
  • Posts and maintains stock records for equipment and supplies in IEMS to include receipts, locations; Issues and receives supplies and tools utilizing IEMS.
  • Prepares and maintains receiving reports, performs incoming inspections about quantity and quality of products. 
  • Operates material handling equipment (i.e. pallet jack, forklift, truck four-wheel dolly, and two-wheeler) in the daily loading and unloading of supplies and equipment and organizing and stocking of the warehouse, which requires the ability to lift in excess of 100lbs.
  • Responsible for the inventory, issue, shipping, and testing of Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) equipment items assigned to the unit. 
  • Performs additional duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years high school.
  • Requires two years’ experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures in the receipt, storage, and shipment of a variety of goods.
  • Requires working knowledge of purchase and requisition procedures and of the uses of grading for different types of merchandise.
  • Requires working knowledge of Integrated Engineering Management System (IEMS), Enterprise Environmental Safety & Occupational Health Management Information System (EESOH-MIS), Automated Civil Engineering System.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers knowledge of transportation agencies and shipment methods.
  • Prefers ability to keep perpetual inventory records.

  • Prefers ability to make inspections for quality of goods against purchase orders and specifications.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires active or retired (20 years) membership in the Illinois National Guard or retired (minimum 20 years) US Armed forces, if last duty assignment was with the Illinois National Guard
  •  Requires the ability to pass a Department of Defense (DOD) background investigation and obtain a DOD Common Access Card (CAC) prior to hire or transfer.
  • This position is considered very heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(e)). Very Heavy work involves lifting objects weighing more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
  •  Requires being on feet for long periods of time and the ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
