Position Description and Responsibilities

 

Under direct supervision of the Corrections Casework Supervisor, provides beginning level professional services to established caseload of inmates; provides input into the planning and coordinating inmate services; provides input into the orientation of new inmates; processes routine reports; participates in recommending and  reviewing treatment plans; assists in developing and implementing reentry assessment goals; recieves formal and on-the-job training for increased responsibilities and job proficiency and maintains safety, sanitary, security, and custodial measures.

 

25% Assists in providing regular interview routine for each assigned inmate seeing them no less than once every 60 days.

 

20% At beginning work level, provides assistance to each inmate unit admission in developemnt of program plan in conjunction with intake/assessments.

 

20% Provides input into the preparation of plans to improve facility's counseling and guidance services and enhancement of the reentry program initiatives.

 

15% Prepares professional reports, i.e., reclassifications, transfer reports, and supplemental program consideration reports and inputs accurate information into Offender Tracking System for retrieval upon request.

 

10% Participates on institutional committees or projects, i.e., assignment committee, adjustment committee, grievance committee and/or program team.

 

05%   Receives formal and on-the-job training attends staff meetings and professional trainin seminars to aid in the development of job duties.

 

05%   Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Requirements

 

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with a Bachelor's degree in behavioral or social sciences
  2. Requires elementary knowledge of counseling and guidance principles and techniques
  3. Requires elementary knowledge of theories of personality and deviant behavior, delinquency criminology and Corrections
  4. Requires elementary knowledge of stratification, sociology of the family, racial and cultural minorities, urban sociology and social problems
  5. Requires elementary knowledge of research techniques and the writing of professional reports

Conditions of Employment

 

  1. Requires the ability to pass the Illinois Department of Corrections background check
  2. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois.  Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department's zero tolerance Drug Testing policy.  The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.
