Essential Functions
- Processes soiled linens and personal clothing by recording, marking, classifying, bagging and pinning for routing to the washers.
- Separates and sorts soiled linens and personal clothing through use of conveyor belt.
- Operates one or more machines in the laundry department including washers, dryers, drying tunnels, flatwork ironer, towel machines, and heat seal machine.
- Sorts and folds clean linens and clothing. Ships and routes linens and personal clothing back to the various units on the facility grounds.
- Performs any cleaning duties necessary to meet health and safety standards.
- Prepares and maintains records of receiving and shipping of laundry daily.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass a background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical.
- Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
- Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
- Requires skill in the basic operation machinery and equipment found in the assigned area.
- Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- This position is considered very heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(e)). Very heavy work involves lifting objects weighing more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
