Job Responsibilities

1. Provides direct patient care

  • Administers and charts medications
  • Applies medical treatment
  • Assess patient condition
  • Maintains member medical records

2. Functions a lead worker of both professional and para-professional personnel

  • Assigns patient care duties to subordinate staff on assigned unit
  • Monitors and reviews duties performed for efficiency and adherence to patient care plan
  • Discuss work performance of para-professional staff with supervisory personnel to assist with evaluation process

3. Assist physician with rounds

  • Provide physician with charts
  • Records changes in condition and delegates orders for prescribed medication and treatments
  • Confers with physicians, physical and rehabilitation therapists, other nursing staff members to plan and evaluate individual members course of treatment

4. Reviews member medical records to assure that physician orders are posted, medication and member care treatment and observations are charted

  • Informs staff and family members of any changes in condition

5. Verify number and classification of staff available to assign/reassign

  • Take call-ins, mandate according to policy/procedure
  • Maintain shift Coordinator log

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications


  1. Requires (a) graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing and two years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience; or (b) a bachelor's degree in nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or (c) a master's degree in nursing.
  2. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois

  3. Must meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance
  4. Must possess a valid and current Driver’s License
  5. Able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
  6. Able to bend, stoop, twist, stand and walk for protracted periods of time, use fine and gross hand manipulation
  7. Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime
