Essential Function 1

  • Performs post-residential case management, mentee training, mentee residential counseling, and scholarship eligibility procedures. 
  • Provides assistance during mentor training to include set up and tear down of training facility and provides mentor training when necessary.
  • Maintains a residential and post-residential case load utilizing established organizational methods to accurately manage cadet case files.
  • Provides extensive file management utilizing the Cadet Tracking System to update and maintain cadet data for tracking by the National Guard Bureau.  Attends weekly QUAD meeting with Instructors, Counselors and Cadre to access cadets’ progress in the program.  Assists cadets in the preparation plans for the Post-Residential phase through the use of the Life Plan (Post-Residential Action Plan).
  • Performs career counseling during the residential phase and aids with challenges cadets may encounter upon graduation. Conducts Initial, Mid-Cycle and Final counseling for all assigned cadets/teams.
  • Required to attend and assist mandatory Academy events, to include but not limited to, Career Fair, Mock Interviews, graduation, PFT, clothing issue, proctoring test and all mandatory/required staff trainings.
  • Responsible for timely completion of NGB required task by teaching LPC (Life Planning Classes).
  • Performs/conducts job search skills, interview skills and networking tips training to cadets during the residential phase.

Minimum Qualifications 1

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school
  • Requires two years of administrative civilian or military experience.

Preferred Qualifications 1

  • Case Management experience

  1. Requires the ability to pass a DoD background investigation.
  2. Requires a valid driver’s license in the appropriate classification as required by law.
  3. Required to work a flex work schedule including weekends and evenings when necessary to meet agency needs.
  4. This position is considered light work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(b)). Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. This job may require a good deal of walking or standing or involves sitting most of the time.
  5. Requires a Substitute Teaching Certificate recognized by the State of Illinois.
