Essential Function 1

Possess knowledge and follows guidelines for dining facility operations, nutrition standards and food safety.

• Follows safety guidelines for the operation and cleaning procedures of all commercial dining facility equipment.
• Follows health codes/requirements in the areas of food safety per public health agencies.

Assists in receiving shipments and deliveries of food or commodities from vendors and delivery personnel.

• Compare the received order against the original order placed.
• Maintain accurate records of received orders, including any modifications or discrepancies.
• Assess the quality of the items received to ensure they meet the order.

Assists LCA DFAC supervisor and assumes supervisory role in their absence.

Minimum Qualifications 1

1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
2. Requires an understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications 1

1 Prefers two years’ experience in food preparation and cooking in a commercial kitchen.
2 Prefers formal training in culinary arts.

Employment Condition 1

1. Requires the ability to pass a DoD background investigation.
2. Requires a valid driver’s license in the appropriate classification as required by law.
3. Requires Food Service Manager Certification and Food Allergen Training Certification within two months of hire.
4. Required to work a flex work schedule including weekends and evenings when necessary to meet agency needs.
5. This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
