Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and organized candidate to fill the role or Human Resources Representative at Robinson Correctional Center. This role serves as the human resource generalist performing confidential, complex, and diverse actions that take place during an employee’s time at the facility. Duties include hiring processes, promotions, counsel, direction, and advice in all areas of employment. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply.
Essential Functions
- Serves as the Human Resources Representative for Robinson Correctional Center.
- Prepares and submits appropriate documentation for new hires and other applicable transactions for insurance purposes and assists employees with basic information.
- Maintains personnel files for employees.
- Receives and responds to mail for personnel office.
- Prepares and submits monthly and quarterly reports to the Warden concerning personnel transactions and related matters.
- Assists the Retirement Coordinator and the Worker's Compensation Coordinator by answering employee questions of these programs.
- Maintains and updates personnel and insurance manuals and reference materials by including revisions and purging dated material.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working with Personnel Code, Rules, Position Classification Plans, Pay Plans, and Collective Bargaining Contracts.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience articulating information in descriptive terms to others not versed in the personnel system.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience gathering information and compiling data into reports.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience handling confidential information.
- Prefers at least four (4) years of work experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite or similar computer software.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
