Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Administrative Assistant I for The Office of Land Management. This position will: assist in the planning, directing, and administering of all operational programs for the Region I area; collect data and create reports and spreadsheets; perform duties as regional timekeeper for assigned staff; and will work in conjunction with Site superintendents of state parks, fish and wildlife areas, state forests and recreation areas to determine appropriate needs for new equipment or repair work. The Office of Land Management manages and maintains 329 state-owned and leased state parks, fish and wildlife areas, state forests, state trails, natural areas and recreational sites. Essential Functions
- Serves as staff assistant to the Regional Land Manager.
- Assists staff with regional fiscal and budgetary responsibilities including the monitoring of vouchers, maintenance contracts, and contractual repair work bidding.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Responds to public inquiries in person, correspondence, or by phone.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably with the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
- Requires one year of professional experience, in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of working knowledge of agency policy and procedures
- Two (2) years of professional experience developing office practices, policies, and procedures.
- Two (2) years of professional experience using technology and software to track, manage, and improve the operations of a large office or programs.
- Two (2) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail while working on multiple projects.
