Position Overview

Are Sales, Marketing and Public Relations your passion? The Illinois Lottery is seeking to hire a Lottery Sales Representative with the Sales Division.  The individual in this position will work independently in a specified route, providing in-person customer service, guidance, and direction to Lottery retailers to ensure they receive the full benefits of selling Lottery tickets.  If you are a people person who excels in communicating and solving problems, the Illinois Lottery encourages you to apply for this position.

Essential Functions

  • Distributes Lottery promotional materials to Lottery retailers in Territory 300, which encompasses Geneva, Batavia, Oswego, Montgomery, North Aurora, and Aurora. 
  • Evaluates performance of licensed retailers to ascertain compliance with Department policies and procedures.
  • Reports all sales activities and plans to supervisor and Private Manager.
  • Provides assistance to retailers regarding installation and upkeep of Lottery equipment and products.
  • Attends staff meetings to keep apprised of new developments and sales promotions.
  • Assists in calling on potential new retailers in their territory that have been identified by Lottery management.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of duties enumerated above.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with courses in Marketing, Public Relations or Business Administration.
  • Requires two (2) years progressively responsible experience in marketing, sales, or a promotional field.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers extensive experience using sales and marketing principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Prefers extensive experience in graphically presenting promotional and sales programs and evaluating their resourcefulness.
  • Prefers the ability to manage various projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Prefers the ability to utilize sales software and basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Prefers the ability to promote sales and use diplomacy and tact in dealing with controversial matters.
  • Prefers the ability to plan regularly scheduled visits to retailers in sales territory.
  • Prefers the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, retailers, and customers of various backgrounds either orally or in writing.

 

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
  • Requires possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license and automobile insurance
  • Requires the ability to utilize agency issued equipment, i.e. cell phone and tablet.
  • Must live within 25 miles of the areas of Geneva, Batavia, Oswego, Montgomery, North Aurora, and Aurora areas.
