Position Overview

Under general supervision of the Fiscal Services Manager, operates the facility warehouse; processes general, industrial, mechanical and office supply items; stores stock or equipment; checks quantity and quality of commodities and stock; assists in conducting annual physical inventory and processing receipt of commodities and stock received for facility. Maintains warehouse, keeps areas clean, safe and secure. Serves as back-up to the Commissary Storekeeper.

Job Responsibilities

1. Operates the facility warehouse; processes general, industrial, mechanical and office supply items. Checks quantity and quality of items received.

 

2. Maintains warehouse, keeps areas clean, safe and secure.

 

3. Provides input to lead worker regarding replacement of stock. Prepare recommendations for supplies for supervisor's signature.

 

4. Assists in conducting annual physical inventory of the warehouse merchandise and processing receipt of commodities and stock received for facility.

 

5. Serves as back-up to the Commissary Storekeeper. Ensures goods are ordered, received and stocked. Oversees residents during weekly commissary and outside commissary.

 

6. Performs other duties a required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years high school.
  2. Requires one-year experience in the keeping of stores and stores records. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires working knowledge of storeroom and warehouse methods, procedures, inventory record keeping and controls.
  • Requires working knowledge of transportation agencies, shipment methods and purchase and requisition procedures.
  • Requires ability to prepare stock records and reports.
  • Requires ability to determine quality of goods against prescribed specifications.
  • Requires ability to perform arduous labor.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related Policies and guidance.
  2. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  3. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department’s zero tolerance Drug Testing policy. The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.
