SITE TECHNICIAN II (UMP)

Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Technician 2 at Shabbona Lake State Park. This position will assist with improvement projects to grounds, shovel and plow snow, perform semi-skilled work associated with the building trades to include concrete, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical.  Shabbona Lake State Park is located west of Chicago, off U.S. 30, urban landscape gives way to 1,550 acres of rolling prairie and a 318.8-acre man-made fishing lake. Essential Functions

• Under direction, participates in the maintenance and improvements to all site structures, facilities, grounds, trails, waterways, day use areas at Shabbona Lake State Park and its satellite locations.
• Participates in site grounds maintenance.
• Maintains site vehicles and equipment.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms and shower buildings.
• Assists in implementing safety and security programs at the site.
• Issue and collects fees for camping permits and licenses.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associates with the building trades and/or operation of heavy equipment and machinery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or operation of heavy equipment or farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing.
• Two (2) years of experience in following written and oral instructions.
• One (1) year of experience in informing visitors of site facilities, programs, rules, and regulations.
• One (1) year of experience in outdoor recreation.
• One (1) year of experience in groundskeeping.
