SITE TECHNICIAN II

Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Technician 2 at Old Shawneetown Bank. This position will schedule and conduct tours of the sites, clean and maintain historical artifacts, furniture and exhibits, provide building and grounds maintenance, build and repair picnic tables and make minor plumbing and heating repairs. Old Shawneetown Bank offers exhibits and displays that showcase the history of the town and the people who lived there. Visitors can learn about the early settlers of the area, the Native American tribes that lived in the region, and the role that the Ohio River played in the development of the town. We welcome interested applicants who would like to be part of this team to apply today.

Essential Functions

• Under direct supervision performs routine maintenance and program support task at Shawneetown Bank, Halfway Tavern, Lincoln Trail Memorial, Kincaid Mounds, Bael House, Rose Hotel, Crenshaw House/Hickory Hill.
• Implements the interpretive programs of the site.
• Performs semi-skilled cyclical and routine maintenance work to site buildings, exhibit areas, and public use areas by performing a wide range of duties associates with various building trades historical skilled crafts.
• Implements safety and security measures of location.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably with the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associated with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in public speaking.
• Two (2) years of experience following written and oral instructions.
• Two (2) years of working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or operation of heavy equipment or farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing.
• One (1) year of experience informing visitors of site facilities, programs, rules, and regulations.
• One (1) year of experience in outdoor recreation.
• One (1) year of experience in groundskeeping.

9. Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification within 6 months of employment and keep them current.
