Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Superintendent 2 for the World Shooting & Recreational Complex. The Site Superintendent will coordinate and participate in the maintenance of the Complex's grounds, facilities, sporting areas, vehicles and equipment, supervise and conduct research related to site restoration, interpretations, and development, along with developing/implementing public information materials and programs. The ideal candidate will be able to utilize their supervisory experience, problem solving skills, and communication skills. The premier 1,600-acre World Shooting and Recreational Complex is located in beautiful southern Illinois and was designed for shooters and built for recreation! This public facility offers 120 trap houses stretching 3.5 miles, two sporting clays courses, 24 combination trap and skeet fields, and cowboy action shooting. It also features more than 1,000 camping sites, excellent fishing opportunities, a full-service restaurant, and meeting and event space. Essential Functions
- Serves as a full line supervisor
- Under direction, manages the operation of the World Shooting and Recreational Complex
- Prepares, submits, and monitors operating and capital improvement budgets and annual plans of work
- Plans, coordinates, and implements site activities and programs compatible with the natural and cultural resource base
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the media and interested groups or individuals
- Explains agency policies, rules and regulations to site visitors and monitors to assure compliance with the same
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably with the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
• Requires knowledge, skills, and mental development equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in park and recreation administration, or natural resource administration, or in museum administration, history, American studies, or archeology.
• Requires three years of supervisory experience affording training in various facets of managing an outdoor recreational park, or natural public area, or a cultural/historic site or museum.
Preferred Qualifications
• Three (3) years of extensive knowledge of agency programs, policies, and procedures.
• Three (3) years of experience in assigning and supervising the work of assistants and staff members.
• Two (2) years of experience in applying appropriate levels of knowledge in problem solving situations and adopting an effective course of action to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Two (2) years of experience in evaluating program effectiveness and making recommendations on policies and procedures.
• Two (2) years of experience in expressing ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

- Ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Ability to obtain pesticide operator's license within 6 months of employment.

- Ability to operate and maintain tools, equipment, and material utilized in the maintenance, repair, and care of site resources, buildings, and grounds.
- Ability to lift, carry and transport loads exceeding sixty pounds.
- Ability to walk over rough and broken terrain.
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification within 6 months of employment.

The Historic Sites Division of the Office of Land Management oversees 56 Historic Sites, Monuments, and Memorials. OLM facilities activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites, to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
