Position Overview
The Sporting Clays Technician II will secure and maintain a safe shooting line of fire for all shooting disciplines; range safety standards include: safety for staff, loaders, scorers, competitors and audience; run fundraisers and corporate events in the absence of manager, utilize forklift to gain access to pallets of targets, back a trailer, assist with target setting on target throwing machines, target throwing machine adjustments, ensure daily tasks are complete without being told to do so, report directly to sporting clays manager. Perform other duties at WSRC facility as assigned which are reasonably within scope of duties enumerated above.
Essential Functions
- Help supervise staff, ensuring daily tasks are complete for event success
- Secure and maintain a safe shooting line of fire for all shooting disciplines
- Running events in the absence of manager
- Assisting in target setting and running registered NSCA/ISCA events
- Operate equipment, when needed, for events (forklift, truck/trailer, etc.)
- Assist with target setting on machines and make adjustments to machine, if needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
- Must have served a minimum of 1 years in a role in shooting sports industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to operate simple equipment such as sporting clays machines, forklift and UTVs.
- Knowledgeable with working on Target Throwing machines required.
- Knowledgeable with official governing body rules for shooting events.
Employment Conditions

- Minimum age of 17 possessing a valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to be around Firearms.
- Requires ability to lift, carry, and transport loads up to 25 pounds.
- Requires physical condition and ability to perform position responsibilities.
- Requires ability to work almost FT hours including availability to work most weekends, with an occasional evening or holiday.
- Requires ability to alter work schedule to meet the needs of the WSRC including some long shifts up to 10 hours.
- Requires ability to work in all climates and weather conditions.
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure criminal history.
