Position Overview
The Trap/Skeet Technician I will secure and maintain a safe shooting line-of-fire for all shooting disciplines; ensure range safety standards are met which includes: ensuring safety for staff, loaders, scorers, competitors and audience; supervise and train loaders/scorers and target machine mechanics for duration of shooting event; maintain and secure score cards and make final decisions according to ATA/NSSA rules for scoring discrepancies during competitive events; Assist with target setting on trap machines, trap machine adjustments, and targets during shooting. Perform other duties at WSRC facility as assigned which are reasonably within scope of duties enumerated above.
Essential Functions
- Assist Trap/Skeet Manager with firing line safety and preparations for events.
- Assist with personnel acquisition and train new staff members in proper techniques for positions on the firing line.
- Serve as a safety range officer for events.
- Make decisions based on rules and regulations set in place by governing bodies of different events.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires education, knowledge, and mental development equivalent to a minimum of an 8th grade education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers experience with Trap/Skeet events and preparations.
- Prefers knowledge of trap/skeet shooting rules and regulations.
- Prefers ability to operate equipment such as Trap/Skeet machines, UTV, etc.
Employment Conditions

- Minimum age of 17 possessing a valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to be around Firearms.
- Requires capability to lift, carry, and transport loads up to 25 pounds.
- Requires physical condition and ability to perform position responsibilities which can include strenuous manual labor.
- Requires ability to work in all climates and weather conditions
- Requires availability on most weekends, and some nights or holidays for events.
- Ability to alter work schedule to meet the needs of the WSRC including some long shifts up to 9-10 hours.
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure criminal history.
